School Supplies Drive

The Blazers and Guard Damon Stoudamire are hosting a school supplies drive during the Blazers first home playoff game, to benefit Schoolhouse Supplies.

Schoolhouse Supplies collects new and surplus products from businesses and uses these supplies to stock a FREE store for teachers working in 56 of Portland’s highest poverty schools, delivering products to over 20,500 children. Next year the program will be expanding to include all 98 Portland Public Schools, representing more than 54,000 students.

As of today over 345 businesses, foundations and individuals have contributed merchandise, professional services or financial support.

Damon Stoudamire is asking fans to bring school supplies to the Blazers first home playoff game vs. the Lakers, April 28, 2002. This is the third year Stoudamire and the Blazers have partnered with School House Supplies to benefit local teachers and students. Tip-off is 2:30 p.m., and doors open at 12:30 p.m. Collection boxes will be located at each entrance of the arena. Fans should bring unused supplies such as glue sticks, pencils, ruled paper, crayons and scissors for local school children and teachers.

Fans are welcome to drop off any other classroom materials at Schoolhouse Supplies at 2735 NE 82nd Ave. For more information on how to donate school supplies, call 503-249-9933 or Schoolhouse Supplies.
