For the second year in a row, the Blazers and LifeWise Health Plan of Oregon have partnered to bring smiles to kids around Portland during a tour of four Portland children’s hospitals, Legacy Emanuel, Doernbecher, Shriners and Providence Child Care Center.
Blazers players, dressed in halloween attire, greeted kids, signed autographs, took photos and hung out with hospitalized children and their families at each hospital.
"LifeWise is sponsoring the Blazers Get Well Tour because we care about children's health," said Mark Charpentier, LifeWise President/CEO. "We appreciate the Blazers organization's commitment to caring for kids and this community."
Over 500 children had the opportunity to have photos taken with players, coaches and Blaze. Each kid received a backpack, hat, basketball, Blazers poster and a picture frame.
On a day when hospitalized children cannot participate in traditional trick-or-treat activities, the Blazers Get Well Tour, presented by LifeWise, was a special day for kids.
"It's always hard to see kids stuck in a hospital, but especially on a night when my own kids are out trick-or-treating. It means a lot to be able to bring smiles to their faces today," said Ruben Patterson.
