Trail Blazers Pitch In To 'Can Hunger' For Month of November
Team partners with Wells Fargo to benefit Oregon Food Bank
The Portland Trail Blazers have partnered with Wells Fargo to tip-off the month of November with its inaugural Can Hunger initiative, an organized effort to raise awareness and help address the growing issue of food insecurity by benefitting Oregon Food Bank.
Canned goods and non-perishable food items can be donated at all Portland metropolitan area Wells Fargo stores now through Nov. 18. All food collected will be sent to Oregon Food Bank and distributed throughout the state.
“This year we wanted to expand our efforts to assist those in need during the holidays,” said Trail Blazers President Larry Miller. “Lack of sufficient food supply is an increasing issue and we want to raise awareness by energizing our fans and partners to help us fight it.”
In addition, Trail Blazers Head Coach Nate McMillan donated his time to shoot a public service announcement for Oregon Food Bank, and tipped-off the Can Hunger initiative by delivering bags of food to the Wells Fargo Lloyd Center store today.
Volunteers from the Trail Blazers, Wells Fargo, Alpha Broadcasting and Oregon Food Bank will be on hand to help sort cans and food donations at Oregon Food Bank following the food drive on Nov. 21.
