Contact Michelle Woodward DATES HAVE BEEN SET FOR 2009-2010 TRAIL BLAZER STUNT TEAM AUDTIONS The Portland Trailblazers proudly announce the 2008-2009 Blazers Stunt Team The Blazers Stunt Team is a vital part of the entertainment and atmosphere that occurs at every Trail Blazers home game. Whether they are tossing female members of the team 30+ feet up in the air, assisting with on-court contests, delivering free Pizza, shooting out T-shirts or rallying the crowd with cheerstix, the Blazers Stunt Team is always right in the middle of all the action so it was important to find the very best to make up the 2010-2009 squad. The invitation only auditions were held this past weekend at the Trail Blazers Practice Facility in Tualatin. While many applied only a select few were invited to audition for the team. After three long days of stunting, Coach Linus Oey, with the aid of Captain Andrea Iverson, carefully picked through the 60+ very talented hopefuls. With cuts happening each day, every finalist needed to run through all three days of grueling back to back stunts regardless if they were returning members. Under Coach Linus’ watchful eye, the hopefuls were asked to perform a variety of elite aerial stunts. While some of the moves were not considered “difficult” in the gymnastic/cheerleading/stunting world, Linus watched closely because stunting in the Rose Garden full of screaming Blazer fans is different than stunting in an empty gym in Tualatin or at a large area on the side of a football field. At these places there is plenty of room for error, and those who auditioned had room to wander when landing stunts. However, when in the Rose Garden there is only a 2-foot area to land a 30+ foot basket toss or they might be positioned on stairs with crowd members walking beneath the stunts; so coach Linus took only the best of the best. |
