Detroit Pistons sign free agent Zaza Pachulia

DETROIT — The Detroit Pistons announced Sunday that the team has executed the official signing of free agent center Zaza Pachulia. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Pachulia, a 15-year NBA veteran, has appeared in 1,030 NBA games (513 starts) averaging 6.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 20.7 minutes with the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors. He’s a career 47.0 percent shooter from the field and has connected on 75.0 percent of his attempts from the free throw line. In 66 career postseason games (26 starts), the Republic of Georgia native has averaged 5.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game.

Pachulia has spent the last two seasons with the Golden State Warriors as part of their back-to-back NBA Championship teams in 2017 and 2018. In 57 starts with the Warriors this past season, he averaged 5.8 points (.565 FG%, .817 FT%), 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14.9 minutes per game. He scored in double figures 11 times (Warriors 8-3 in those games) and grabbed 10-plus rebounds four times.

The 6-11, 270-pound center was drafted by Orlando with the 42 overall selection in the 2003 NBA Draft. Pachulia has played with the Georgian National Team the last eight summers and is the first NBA player from the Republic of Georgia to win an NBA Championship.
