Wizards' Bradley Beal diagnosed with hamstring tightness

The Washington Wizards got a scare on Wednesday and could be missing Bradley Beal over the weekend, but got some relatively good news in regard to their shooting guard on Thursday morning.

Bradley Beal’s right leg injury– originally called a hamstring tightness — has turned out to be just that following an MRI Thursday morning, CSNmidatlantic.com was told by league sources, and the Wizards will list him as questionable for Friday’s game vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After going through Friday’s shootaround, Beal is still listed as questionable and will more or less be a game-time decision.

Beal went down in the third quarter of a 118-93 rout of the Boston Celtics on Wednesday. He only lasted 11 minutes — played just seven in the first half — with three points. He slipped on a wet spot while batting Marcus Smart for the ball and fell awkwardly.

He was able to walk off the court without assistance and said after the game that he felt much better and was optimsitic about not missing any time.

Despite Beal’s limited minutes, the Wizards got an important win on Wednesday. At 2-5, they’ve struggled on both ends of the floor.

Beal’s effective field-goal percentage is at a career-low 41.6 percent, but the Wizards have scored less than a point per possession with him off the floor.

After hosting the Cavs on Friday, the Wizards visit Chicago on Saturday. They then have a few days off.
