QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
"It's so frustrating right now. It's almost like we have a curse on us with everybody getting hurt. I've never been on a team like this. It's crazy. But we still hung in there. It's good to have Corey back, but we need everybody.'"
-- Ruben Patterson of the Clippers, after Sam Cassell went down in the first quarter with a strained left calf.
NBA.COM'S FANTASY TAKE
The Nuggets and Kenyon Martin received good news on Monday when an MRI on his surgically repaired right knee showed only a bone bruise. Martin is listed as doubtful for Tuesday and will be day-to-day until he feels okay to play. What does this mean for your fantasy games? Probably not too much. K-Mart is averaging career lows of 8.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 22 minutes.

STAT SHEET STUFFER
Gilbert Arenas? Who's that? Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison couldn't be doing a better job of helping Wizards fans forget that their All-Star point guard is out for three months. Butler had 35 points and eight rebounds, Jamison added 27 and six and the Wizards beat the Mavericks for their fourth win in six games without Arenas. The loss was the Mavs' first at home and third overall.

COUSINS LEAD TEAMS TO BIG UPSETS
The Knicks won against the Bulls on Sunday. They won again Monday -- that's two in a row. If they win Thursday in Boston, that's what we call a winning streak. Knicks fans, it has happened before. Behind Stephon Marbury's 28 points and Zach Randolph's eighth double-double of the season, the Knicks held off a late rally from Utah for a 113-109 victory at the Garden. But despite New York improving to 4-9 on the season with the win over the Northwest Division leaders, there was a bigger upset in the league on Monday night. That honor goes to the Timberwolves. Minnesota notched its second win of the season with a 103-94 triumph over the Hornets, who got off to their quickest start in four years. Sebastian Telfair, Marbury's cousin, paced the Wolves with 21 points and six assists.
ELLIS, WARRIORS SNAP SUNS' WINNING STREAK
Four wins in five games in seven days could have been a great excuse for the Warriors to mail it in on Monday. Instead, Monta Ellis and Co. scored 45 points in the first quarter and blew out the Pacific-leading Suns in front of a sold out home crowd. The Warriors returned from their most successful road trip in 29 years in style, snapping the Suns' eight-game winning streak with a 129-114 victory. Ellis matched his career high with 32 points, including 15 straight in the fourth quarter, and Stephen Jackson scored a season-high 32 points in his first home appearance of the season. The man known as Captain Jack drew a standing ovation during player intros and must have gotten the Warriors pumped up as they matched their highest-scoring quarter in 16 years during his first 12 minutes.
COOL/CLUTCH PERFORMANCE
Need points quick? Tracy McGrady's your guy. T-Mac, who can fill the scoring sheet quicker than anyone, poured in 19 of his game-high 36 points in the fourth quarter to help Houston cruise to an 88-71 victory over the Clippers on Monday. The game was close through the first three quarters before McGrady's scoring outburst led the Rockets to a 16-point advantage in the period. Where was he in the first half? "In the first half, I wasn't really that aggressive and wasn't really looking to score the ball that much," McGrady said.
LOCKDOWN OF THE NIGHT
Beno knows Tony. In fact, Beno Udrih might know Tony Parker better on the court than any other player in the NBA. Not only were they teammates on the Spurs for three seasons before Udrih was shipped to Minnesota during the offseason, but the two guards have gone head-to-head internationally. Monday marked the first time that Udrih, who now plays for the Kings, squared off against the Spurs and he couldn't have done a better job slowing down the much-quicker Parker. Udrih scored a career-high 27 points, while Parker was held to 12.
D-LEAGUE STAR OF THE NIGHT
You've probably never heard of the Energy's Dwayne Mitchell, but you just might be seeing his picture next to Eddie Gill's in our GATORADE Call-Up Photo Gallery before the season is over. Mitchell, an undrafted guard out of Louisiana-Lafayette, is averaging 25.7 points through Iowa's first three games, including a game-high-tying 27 points in a 101-98 win over the Thunderbirds in the D-League's only game on Monday night. Mitchell also pulled in 14 rebounds.
