QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
"I'm still in awe of the Celtic history that was standing out there on the floor. I feel like I'm a part of that. I would love to when I finish up my career, come back and get that type of applause from the crowd.''
-- Boston's Delonte West said after the 1957 team was honored at halftime of the Celtics' game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
NBA.COM'S FANTASY TAKE
Many starters are mailing it in for the remainder of the season, opening up playing opportunities for several rookies. But don't let a good game from an unproven youngster at this point of the season fool you. For example, with Paul Pierce out, Celtics rookie Leon Powe shot 8-of-12 for 18 points and added eight rebounds in Friday's 104-102 home loss to the Bucks. Does this mean Powe is a player to pick up next season? Probably not.

EXCITING REGULAR-SEASON FINALE IN OKC
The Hornets wrapped up two memorable seasons at the Ford Center with a 107-105 defeat to the Nuggets in their final regular-season game in Oklahoma City on Friday night. Carmelo Anthony led Denver with 31 points, and David West had 31 points and 13 rebounds for the Hornets. "Most of all, thank you to the fans of this most major league of cities,'' NBA commissioner David Stern said in a pregame ceremony. "I look forward to the day that the NBA will return to Oklahoma City.'' The loss damaged the Hornets' hopes of bringing a playoff series to Oklahoma City before the team returns to New Orleans next season. New Orleans/Oklahoma City fell two games behind Golden State and the Los Angeles Clippers for the eighth seed. The Warriors beat Sacramento to remain tied with the Clippers, who dropped the Blazers, for the final spot. The Clippers hold the tiebreaker over the Warriors.

  • EAST PLAYOFF PICTURE IS LOOKING CLEARER... KIND OF
The Nets were the big winners in the East on Friday. In a battle of the Hudson, Jason Kidd recorded his 87th career triple-double and 12th of the season with 13 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists to lead New Jersey to a 100-86 home victory over New York. Vince Carter posted 25 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and Richard Jefferson scored 24. With some help from Dwyane Wade's 23 points to guide Miami past Indiana, the Nets clinched a playoff berth for the sixth straight season, while the Knicks' postseason hopes officially came to an end. Toronto was also victorious on Friday, but needed a Heat loss to clinch home-court advantage in the first round. Behind Anthony Parker's 21 points, the Raptors rallied to edge the Billups-less Pistons, 87-84, but remain 1 ½ games behind the Chicago Bulls, who cruised to a 100-81 win over the shorthanded Bobcats. The Pacers dropped to 1 ½ games behind Orlando for the eighth and final playoff spot.
    LOCKDOWN OF THE NIGHT
Raja Bell poured in 18 points, but his real contribution in Phoenix's 93-85 win over the Lakers came on the defensive end. With help from his friends, Bell held Kobe Bryant, the league's leading scorer, to just 17 points on 7-of-26 shooting from the field, including three missed shots in the final 35 seconds. Steve Nash led the Suns with 26 points and 14 assists, while Amare Stoudemire added 15 points and 16 rebounds as Phoenix kept a two-game lead over the San Antonio Spurs for the second seed in the Western Conference. If the Lakers can remain ahead of the Warriors and Clippers in the seventh spot, they will likely play the Suns in a rematch of last season's first-round matchup.
    SIXTH MEN OF THE NIGHT
Led by Manu Ginobili's 21 points, San Antonio's reserves combined for 74 points as the Spurs won its sixth straight and moved within two wins of finishing with their second consecutive 60-win season with a 110-91 triumph in Minnesota on Friday. Matt Bonner tallied 18 points and six rebounds, and Brent Barry finished with 13 points, four rebounds and assists rebounds. San Antonio is currently two games behind the Phoenix Suns for the second seed in the Western Conference. The Timberwolves played without Kevin Garnett, who is out indefinitely with an injured right quadricep.
    D-LEAGUE STAR OF THE NIGHT
The 2006-07 D-League Championship presented by Delta Airlines field is set, but many of the participating teams will be without their star players. Sioux Falls' Amir Johnson was recalled by the Pistons on Friday before scoring three points and grabbing four rebounds in Detroit's loss to the Raptors. Former Forth Worth Flyers point guard Jose Juan Barea scored 16 for the Mavericks, while his teammate Pops Mensah-Bonsu added four in Dallas' defeat to Utah. Former Sioux Falls center Jared Reiner scored two in the Bucks' victory over the Celtics, and Colorado's Von Wafer signed with the Nuggets on Friday afternoon.
