QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
"They played with an unbelievable purpose. They're a better team, and that's where we want to be someday. Obviously, we're not there yet.''
-- Celtics' head coach Doc Rivers on the Rockets' performance after Boston's 111-80 home loss to Houston on Wednesday.
NBA.COM'S FANTASY TAKE
With Baron Davis returning, Monta Ellis has been sent to the bench and as a result his numbers have dropped significantly. After Wednesday's 3-of-11 from the field, seven-point performance in the Warriors' 110-96 home victory over the Nuggets, many owners may be tempted to drop Ellis. However, remember Golden State has dealt with a number of injuries this year, so he may be back in the starting lineup sooner than you think.

EAST'S BEST BATTLE IT OUT
Wednesday night's game between the Eastern Conference's top two teams certainly lived up to its billing. LeBron James exploded for 41 points, seven boards and eight dimes as the Cavaliers edged the Pistons, 101-97, in overtime. James appeared to have won the game in regulation with a 3-pointer at the buzzer, but replay showed that the ball was still touching his fingertips as time expired. Drew Gooden registered 22 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland, while Richard Hamilton scored 29.
UNLIKELY TRIO STEPS UP
Heading into Wednesday's game against the Wizards, things did not look so bright for Hawks. They were amidst a six-game losing streak and were without Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams and Speedy Claxton, while facing a Washington team that had won its last three games, since the return of Antawn Jamison. Instead of laying down in face of the odds, Zaza Pachulia put Atlanta on his back as he notched a career-high 27 points and 12 boards to push the Hawks past the Wizards, 100-97. Newly acquired Anthony Johnson put up 19 points and rookie Solomon Jones added eight in his first start for Atlanta.
SUNS' HOT COMBINATION
While Steve Nash may be the MVP of the NBA and the motor that makes the Suns run, Leandro Barbosa is clearly the sixth man that deliever's Phoenix's top end speed. L.B. nailed seven 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 32 points as he continued to build his case for the Sixth Man of the Year award. Two of his threes came in overtime to lead the Suns to a 115-106 home win over the Bobcats on Wednesday. Nash accumulated 24 points, six rebounds and 11 assists to offset a 22-point, 10-board night from Gerald Wallace.
ROOKIE WATCH
With Andrea Bargnani and Rudy Gay facing off in Toronto, the rookie watch spotlight was focused on Wednesday's matchup between the Raptors and the Grizzlies. However, another first-year player made his presence felt. Tarence Kinsey put up career-highs with 11 points and seven rebounds, but Memphis came up short in a 94-87 loss to Toronto. Gay tallied 17 points and 11 boards, while Bargnani scored 18 in the win.
SIXTH MAN OF THE NIGHT
After battling through a string of injuries this year, Charlie Villanueva is finally starting to perform to the level everyone thought he was capable of prior to this season. He scored 15 of his season-high 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Bucks charged past the Lakers, 110-90, on Wednesday. "I needed a game like this,'' Villanueva said. "I haven't had one in a long time. This is why, I think, they traded for me.''
D-LEAGUE STAR OF THE NIGHT
In a battle between the D-League's division leaders, Lance Allred brought his "A" game. The center out of Weber State put up a career-high 30 points and 10 rebounds as the Stampede edged the Wizards, 106-102, on Wednesday. Renaldo Major scored 20 to lead Dakota back from a 25-point, first-half deficit, but it came up short. Luke Jackson put up 18 points and 10 boards in the win.
