RICK KAMLA'S FANTASY TAKE
"It's time to worry about Jarrett Jack, who is suddenly feeling the heat from Spanish rookie Sergio Rodriguez, who has eight assists in each of the last two games. Don't drop Jack, but keep your hand on the mouse."
QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
"We needed the win."

-- An understatement from Boston head coach Doc Rivers after a 114-88 victory over the visiting Pacers. The Celtics came into the game with an NBA-worst 1-6 mark that included a handful of single-digit defeats.

After the break, he turned it on, scoring 22 points over the final two quarters. Add it all up and the phenom tallied 32 points (on 10-of-15 shooting), seven rebounds, seven assists, a pair of steals and a block in the Cavs' 100-87 home win over the Trail Blazers.

IT TAKES MORE THAN TWO TO TANGO
The matchup of the NBA's top two scorers didn't quite live up to its billing. Neither Michael Redd, the league's No. 1 point man with 32.1 per contest coming in, nor Vince Carter, No. 2 with a 31.2 average, even led their own team in points. Maurice Williams scored 26 to Redd's 25 and Jason Kidd's 25, seven rebounds and 11 assists dwarfed 15 points from the flu-ridden Carter as the Nets came away with a 100-87 home victory over the Bucks. Redd remains first with a 31.3 mark, but Carter dropped below Carmelo Anthony (30.6) and Allen Iverson (29.4) into a fourth-place tie with Joe Johnson at 28.9 points per game.
KINGS HOLDING COURT
California's official state animal is the Grizzly in reference to the settlers' intolerance of the bear during the gold rush, and things haven't really changed. April 19, 1998 was the last time the Grizzlies won a game in the state capital. Led by Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Vancouver came away with a 112-108 overtime win to close out a 19-63 season that would yield Mike Bibby with the No. 2 pick in the draft. On Wednesday, Abdur-Rahim (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Bibby (32 points, 10 assists) punished their former team as the Kings improved to 4-0 at ARCO Arena this season with their 17th straight home win over the Grizz.
ROOKIE WATCH
No. 12 pick Hilton Armstrong had only appeared in two games for the Hornets, failing to even attempt a shot in six minutes of action. But with Tyson Chandler (concussion) and David West (forearm) inactive, Armstrong was inserted into the lineup and paid immediate dividends. He scored 14 of his 17 points before halftime and hit the go-ahead free throw with three seconds left. He then knocked his own rebound to midcourt as time expired in a 100-99 win in Detroit.
SIXTH MAN OF THE NIGHT
A long streak trumped a short one in Orlando. The Nuggets, looking to finish out a 4-0 road trip, instead lost their 14th consecutive game in Disney World. Carmelo Anthony has only been around for the last four and did his part with 34 points - his fifth straight game surpassing 30 - but the Magic reserves came up big. Keyon Dooling had a career-high 25 points, hitting all five of his 3-point attempts to help Orlando's bench score 57 points in a 108-99 win.
UPSET OF THE NIGHT
The Spurs had won all four games against Charlotte - by a total of 72 points - but these aren't your father's Bobcats. Emeka Okafor, finally healthy and dominating the defensive paint, racked up 19 points, nine rebounds, five steals and five blocks. No. 3 pick Adam Morrison took care of the offense, scoring 27 points on 12-for-23 shooting as Charlotte came away with a shocking 95-92 overtime road win.
LOCKDOWN OF THE NIGHT
The Wizards came into Wednesday as the NBA's top scoring team, posting nearly 108 points per game, but left the Big Apple still looking for their first road win. The Knicks held the high-octane Wiz to 31.5 percent shooting from the field and an 0-for-15 performance from beyond the arc in a 102-82 win, New York's first at MSG. Rookie Renaldo Balkman led the way with a team-high 18 points, seven rebounds and a pair of blocked shots in 22 minutes.
