What is the NBA's Vendor Diversity Program?

The NBA's objective for the NBA All-Star 2012 Vendor Diversity Program is to bring real business opportunities to local woman- and minority-owned businesses that are interested in providing goods and services to All-Star. Participation in the program does not constitute a guarantee of any award of any business. However, vendors approved to participate the program do have access to information on the procurement process and are listed in the on-line vendor guide.

When is the NBA 2012 All-Star Game?

The 2012 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Amway Center. NBA All-Star related activities will be on going throughout the week. One of NBA All-Star's most popular attractions is NBA Jam Session, the world's largest interactive basketball theme park, which will be held at the Orange County Convention.

How do I enroll in the NBA All-Star 2012 Vendor Diversity Program?

Vendors who are in the local community, owned by a woman or minority and able to provide the necessary goods and services will need to:
  1. Complete and submit the on-line application.
  2. Submit proof of certification as a woman- or minority-owned enterprise by email to: nbavendordiversity@nba.com or by fax to 201-590-3325.


What type of certification is needed to participate in the Vendor Diversity Program?

Certification as an M/WBE issued by one of the independent agencies approved by the NBA. Information on certifying agencies is available by clicking on our Certifying Agencies link.

Who is eligible to participate in the NBA All-Star 2012 Vendor Diversity Program?

Certified woman- or minority- owned businesses that are in the local community and provide the goods and services (see below) that are sought for All-Star. For additional information on applicant criteria click the Applicant information Guidebook.

What constitutes the "local community"?

Seminole, Osceola, and/or Orange County Florida.

What constitutes woman-owned business?

A business which is at least 51% owned, managed and controlled on a daily basis by one or more women regardless of race.

What constitutes a minority owned business?

The business must be 51% owned managed and controlled on a daily basis by one or more minorities.

What groups comprise minority status?

African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans, and Native Americans.

Once I complete the application, what happens next?

All completed applications will be reviewed. Once an application has been completed the vendor will receive a response. Approved vendor applications will be posted to the on line database in October 2011.

What types of goods and services are typically procured for NBA All-Star?

See below for a list of the goods and services that are most commonly sourced for NBA All-Star. It is important to note that if your business does not provide any of these services; the application will not be approved.



If my business provides products or services that can support the NBA's All-Star "Greening" initiatives how can I present this information?

The Vendor Application has a specific section for information on green products or services. Please complete this information prior to submitting the application.

When does the NBA begin the bid process for NBA All-Star 2012?

The bidding process for some goods and services will begin as early as June 2011. However, bid activity will take place in November 2011 and continue through the first few week of February 2012.

What is the deadline to apply to the NBA All-Star 2012 Vendor Program?

The deadline is October 1, 2011.
