What is the NBA's Vendor Diversity Program?

The NBA's objective for the All-Star Vendor Diversity Program is to bring real business opportunities to local woman and minority-owned businesses that are interested in providing goods and services to All-Star.

When is the All-Star Game?

The 2010 All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the new Cowboys Stadium. All-Star related activities will be on-going through-out the week. The T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and NBA All-Star Saturday night festivities will take place at American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks. One of All-Star's most popular attractions is NBA Jam Session, the world's largest interactive basketball theme park, which will be held at the Dallas Convention Center. Jam Session will be held Thursday, February 11th through Sunday, February 14th.

How do I enroll in the NBA's All-Star Vendor Diversity Program?

Vendors who are in the local community, owned by a woman or minority and able to provide the necessary goods and services will need to:
  1. Complete and submit the on-line application.
  2. Submit proof of certification as a woman or minority-owned enterprise by email to: nbavendordiversity@nba.com or by fax to 201-974-5972.


What type of certification is needed to participate in the Vendor Diversity Program?

Who is eligible to participate in the NBA's Vendor Diversity Program?

Certified Woman or Minority owned businesses that are in the local community and provide the goods and services (see below) that are sought for All-Star.

What is defined as the local community?

The local community is defined as the five county area around Dallas: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis and Tarrant counties.

What constitutes woman-owned?

A business which is at least 51 percent owned and operated on a daily basis by one or more women, regardless of race.

What is considered a minority owned business?

The business must be 51 % owned and controlled by one or more minorities.

What groups comprise minority status?

African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans, and Native Americans.

Once I complete the application what happens next?

All completed applications will be reviewed. Once an application has been completed the vendor will receive a response. Approved applications will be posted to the on-line database in September 2009. But, completed vendor applications will be made available internally to NBA staff and primary vendors on a regular basis beginning in June 2009.

What types of goods and services are typically procured for All-Star?

The link below will provide a list of the goods and services that are most commonly sourced for All-Star. It is important to note that if your business does not provide any of these services we will retain the information but will not be able to list it in the Vendor Resource Guide.



If my business provides products or services that can support the NBA's All-Star "Greening" initiatives how can I present this information?

The Vendor Application has a specific section for information on green products or services. Please complete this information prior to submitting the application.

When does the NBA begin the RFP process for All-Star?

The bid process for some items will begin as early as June 2009, however most RFP's and bid activity will take place in November 2009 and continue through the first week of February 2010.

What is the deadline to apply to the NBA'S All-Star Vendor Program?

The deadline is September 1, 2009.
