Celtics point guard has continued his improvement in his fourth NBA season ... Leads the league in both steals and steals per game. No Celtic has ever led the NBA in steals over the course of a full season ... Among league leaders in field-goal percentage and assists per game ... Finished 2008-09 sixth in assists per game, fifth in steals per game ... 2nd Team All-Defense selection in 2008-09 ... Entered the season with 23 total double-doubles to his name in his first three seasons ... So far during the 2009-10 season he has posted 19 double-doubles and is currently 13th in that category league-wide ... He also has improved his numbers in points, assists, steals, field goal percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio ... Posted 30 points and 15 assists against the Warriors on Dec. 28, 2009, becoming just the third Celtic to ever post those numbers in a game joining Larry Bird and Bob Cousy ... Majored in communications at Kentucky ... finished his collegiate career with Kentucky by being named to the Second Team All-SEC as a sophomore by league coaches. He started 62 of 68 career games for the Wildcats, and in his sophomore season led the SEC in assists, averaging 4.9 and ranked second in steals (2.0 spg), while averaging 11.2 ppg and a team-high 6.1 rpg. Favorite NBA player growing up was Isiah Thomas ... Drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 1st round (21st pick, 21st overall) of the 2006 NBA draft. Traded by the Phoenix Suns with Brian Grant to the Boston Celtics for a 2007 1st round draft pick (Rudy Fernandez).
