NEW YORK, Jan. 25, 2007 -- NBA All-Star 2007 not only showcases the world’s greatest athletes but also celebrates the NBA’s tradition and commitment to social responsibility with NBA Cares events throughout Las Vegas. NBA Cares highlights the league’s grassroots and community programs that reach millions of young people and their parents, and provides important resources to community-based programs.

During the 2007 NBA Cares Community Caravan, members of the NBA family will conduct 20 events from Feb. 12-17 including the building of two Habitat for Humanity houses, the creation of a Learn & Play Center at Mabel Hoggard Elementary School, the dedication of a new basketball court at Lied Memorial Boys & Girls Club and a special visit to the Sunrise Children's Hospital. The Community Caravan will also reach thousands of diverse basketball fans through Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Fitness Clinics, a WNBA Be Smart-Be Fit-Be Yourself Clinic, a Reading Rally program at local elementary schools and the NWBA All-Stars Wheelchair Clinic. Also, as a reward for completing an educational/community incentives program, over 6,000 local Las Vegas students will attend the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Feb. 12 - NBA Cares Reading Caravan
NBA Legends, WNBA stars, and NBA family members will be promoting the importance of reading with visits to local elementary schools.

Feb. 13 - Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Clinics
The Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA, presented by Gatorade and Nike, will host hundreds of children from Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA member leagues at a series of skills and fitness clinics.

Feb. 14 and 18 - Habitat for Humanity Houses
The NBA and Players Association will be working with Habitat for Humanity to construct two houses. The first, which will be given to a local Las Vegas family, will be built on Wednesday, February 14 by Habitat volunteers as well as members of the NBA Family.

Feb. 14 - WNBA Be Smart - Be Fit - Be Yourself
Several current WNBA players will host 60 Las Vegas children in an event that highlights the WNBA and its Be Smart-Be Fit-Be Yourself program.

Feb. 14 - National Wheelchair Basketball Association Basketball Clinic
Some of the world’s best wheelchair basketball players who make up the National Wheelchair Basketball Association All-Star basketball team will host a clinic for approximately 40 physically challenged youth from Las Vegas.

Feb. 15 - NBA Cares Hospital Visit
Members of the NBA family will visit with children at a local hospital distributing gifts and reading to kids.

Feb. 15 - Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Nike Court Refurbishment
The NBA and Nike will refurbish a basketball court at a local Boys & Girls Club.

Feb. 15 - National Wheelchair Basketball Association All-Star Game
The top wheelchair basketball players in the world meet in the NWBA All-Star Classic on Center Court at NBA All-Star Jam Session.

Feb. 16 - T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam
As a reward for successfully completing an educational/community incentives program, approximately 7,300 students will be invited to attend the T -Mobile Rookie Challenge at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Feb. 17 - NBA Cares Learn & Play Center Legacy Project Dedication
The NBA will unveil a brand new NBA Cares “Learn & Play” Center at Mabel Hoggard Elementary School. The project will include extensive refurbishment and the donation of books, furniture, computers, literacy and reading materials, and the creation of indoor and outdoor places for kids to play.
