New York , N.Y., Feb. 13, 2006 – NBA fans in a record 215 countries will experience the drama and excitement of NBA All-Star 2006 in Houston (Feb. 15-19) and will be able to follow their favorite All-Stars and legends day-to-day through NBA television, Internet, film and digital technologies.

Global Reach

  • 215 countries will televise coverage of NBA All-Star 2006.
  • 103 telecasters will cover NBA All-Star 2006 enabling a worldwide audience to experience the event.
  • NBA All-Star 2006 will be broadcast in 44 languages, including, among others, Cantonese, Galician, Serbian, and Tagalog.
  • 52 international television networks, radio networksand websites will be on site in Houston.
  • 19 television and radio networks, both domestic and international, will broadcast live with on-site commentary.
  • 9 new telecasters will broadcast NBA All-Star for the first time: Jak TV in Indonesia, LNK and TV1 in Lithuania, TV4 in Macedonia, Sports+ in Malta, TVC in Mexico, Sports Klub in Serbia-Montenegro, Cuatro in Spain and MCTV in Uruguay.
  • 3 telecasters will be on-site for the first-time during NBA All-Star 2006, including LNK in Lithuania, TV4 in Macedonia and Five in the United Kingdom.
  • 41 countries will carry NBA TV and its wall-to-wall All-Star coverage.

  • More than 2.6 million daily visitors will log on to NBA.com during NBA All-Star 2006.
  • 55% of all visits to NBA.com during NBA All-Star 2006 will come from NBA fans living outside the United States with the highest concentration of international visits coming from China, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Spain, Australia, Philippines, Japan and France.
  • NBA TV Broadband on NBA.com, offering daily video highlights throughout NBA All-Star 2006, will be seen by fans in 191 countries.
  • 13 different live audio broadcasts on NBA.com will allow fans around the world to hear the NBA All-Star Game in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Tagalog, Polish and Portuguese.

  • 280,000 feet in video and high-definition tape will be shot by NBAE camera crews.
  • More than 100 hours of All-Star-related coverage will air on NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour television network.
  • 30 camera crews will gather elements for NBATV, NBA and WNBA promos, international specials, NBA Store, NBA special programming and NBA.com’s All-Star Game coverage.
  • 10 high-definition cameras will cover the All-Star events, including the East and West All-Star practices.

NBA Photos

  • 8,000 new photographic images will be generated during NBA All-Star 2006.
  • 3,000 print and Internet media outlets will receive real-time digital photos from NBA Photos. NBA Photos also will provide live digital coverage posting of several hundred digital photos to the NBA Photos Forum for use by the International media, teams and business partners of the NBA.
  • 500 rolls of film will be used by NBA Entertainment photographers.
  • 25 NBA Entertainment still photographers will be on site.

NBA on TNT

  • 35high-definition cameras will be utilized by TNT to cover NBA All-Star Saturday Night and the 55 th annual NBA All-Star Game, along with 18 EVS-XTHD networked high definition video servers. TNT’s coverage also will include Cablecam, a helicopter for exterior shots and a bevy of other high-tech equipment to document the world’s best athletes as they take center stage in Houston.
  • 21 st year Turner Sports has featured NBA All-Star coverage and third consecutive year the NBA All-Star Game will be televised in prime time.
  • Leading up to and during NBA All-Star Week, TNT and NBA.com will work together to provide numerous daily updates and exclusive video content on the events surrounding NBA All Star 2006.

  • The NBA Store at NBA All-Star Jam Session will cover 12,000 square-feet of retail space.

  • More than 20 NBA marketing partners will conduct events, launch promotions and unveil new advertising during NBA All-Star 2006, the most-ever in All-Star history.
  • 450,000 square-feet of interactive basketball activities at NBA All-Star Jam Session.
