Having his best season as a pro, Canada's Jamaal Magloire will appear in his first All-Star Game on Sunday. The 6-11 center leads New Orleans in both rebounding (9.4 rpg) and blocks (1.29 bpg) while contributing 12.1 points per game offensively. Magloire took time during All-Star Weekend to answer your e-mail questions.

Hello, Jamaal! First, congratulations on your selection for the All-Star Game. I would like to know if the selection was a goal for you this season or did it surprise you?
-- Bruno, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Magloire: It's been a goal for me this season. I always told myself in the past that I wouldn't go to an All-Star Game unless I was playing in it. The last thing I told my parents before I left home to start training camp is that I'm going to be an All-Star this year, and I worked extremely hard in doing it.

Jamaal, congratulations on becoming the second Canadian NBA All-Star. All of us hoops fans up north are very proud of you. My question is, when you look at the abundance of talented Canadians in the NCAA right now, who do you think has the best chance at coming into the NBA and eventually becoming the third Canadian All-Star?
-- Brian, Edmonton, Alberta

Magloire: I hope they all do -- I really feel that in my heart. I don't want to see anybody fail. I'm not sure about a lot of the Canadian talent because I've been away from the circuit for so long, but I've watched a couple of games of [University of Connecticut forward] Denham Brown, and I like what I see.

This is your first All-Star Game. What did it take for you to get there?
-- Matthew, Irvine, Calif.

Magloire: A lot of hard work, a lot of perserverence, and a lot of mental toughness.

Jamaal, you are one of the most underrated players in the league -- who is on your NBA most-underrated team?
-- Brett, Margate, N.J.

Magloire: I would have to say -- even though they're All-Stars, they've been underrated before -- Michael Redd, Ron Artest, myself, I think P.J. Brown's underrated, and David Wesley.

Jamaal, as a fellow Canadian I am thrilled that you are doing so well. What are your thoughts on Steve Nash not being selected as a Western Conference All-Star?
-- Dieter, Oshawa, Ontario

Magloire: I was very surprised that Steve Nash didn't make the team -- to me, he's been an All-Star every year. He continues to improve and get better, and I was just a little surprised that he wasn't there.
