The first-ever RadioShack Shooting Stars competition will feature four teams of an NBA player, WNBA player and NBA legend in a timed one round shooting event. RadioShack is a new marketing partner of the NBA.
The 989 Sports Skills Challenge will highlight four NBA players running through a timed obstacle course that will include dribbling, passing and shooting stations. This is the second year this competition will be held. New Jersey Nets guard Jason Kidd won the inaugural 989 Sports Skills Challenge in 2003.
The Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout will feature six of the NBA’s top long distance shooters in a two-round competition. This is the first year that Foot Locker will sponsor the Three-Point Shootout. Last year, Sacramento Kings forward Peja Stojakovic was crowned the champion for the second consecutive year.
The Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk will showcase four of the league’s youngest high-fliers in a two-round competition open to NBA players who are currently playing in their first three years in the league. Last year, Golden State Warriors guard Jason Richardson defended his title and won the competition for the second consecutive year.
Throughout NBA All-Star 2004 in Los Angeles, the NBA will conduct a week of league-driven community relations projects and interactive fan events. NBA All-Star Jam Session, an interactive basketball theme park for fans of all ages, will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, South Hall.
The got milk? Rookie Challenge will pit the NBA’s top rookies against the league’s best second year players on Friday, Feb. 13 at 9 p.m. ET on TNT. The NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, February 15 at 8 p.m. ET and be broadcast live by TNT and ESPN Radio.
