NEW YORK, Jan. 28 -- Washington's Michael Jordan, a 14-time NBA All-Star, and Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal, selected to his 10th All-Star Game, headline Tuesday's announcement of the reserves for the 2003 NBA All-Star Game, to be played on Sunday, Feb. 9 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.

Stephon Marbury and Jason Kidd, main components in the big trade of two summers ago, are both All-Stars this season.

The 14 players selected -- seven each from the Eastern and Western Conferences -- were chosen by a vote of the respective head coaches in each conference.

Joining Jordan on the East team will be Boston's Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker, New Jersey's Jason Kidd and first-time All-Stars Zydrunas Ilgauskas of Cleveland, Brad Miller of Indiana and Jamal Mashburn of New Orleans.

Perennial All-Stars Chris Webber of Sacramento and Seattle's Gary Payton join O'Neal, Dallas' Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki and Phoenix's Stephon Marbury and first-time All-Star Shawn Marion on the West squad.

Previously selected as starters for the East through the NBA All-Star 2003 Balloting program were Detroit's Ben Wallace, Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal, Orlando's Tracy McGrady, Philadelphia's Allen Iverson and Toronto's Vince Carter. Houston's Steve Francis and Yao Ming, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett and San Antonio's Tim Duncan will start for the West.

The selections of Ilgauskas (Lithuania), Nash (Canada) and Nowitzki (Germany), along with voted-starters Duncan (U.S. Virgin Islands) and Yao (China), ties the record (2002) of five international players from five different countries who will participate in the All-Star Game. Ilgauskas is the first Lithuanian and Yao is the first Asian to be selected as an NBA All-Star.

Six teams -- Boston, Dallas, Houston, Indiana, the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix -- have a pair of players in the game. A total 18 NBA teams are represented on the combined East and West rosters.

The 29 NBA head coaches were asked to vote for seven players in their respective conferences -- two guards, two forwards, a center and two players regardless of position. They were not permitted to vote for players from their own team. Should any player be unable to participate in the All-Star Game due to injury, NBA Commissioner David Stern will select the replacement.

Indiana's Isiah Thomas will coach the East All-Stars and Sacramento's Rick Adelman will coach the West.

The 2003 NBA All-Star Game will be broadcast in 212 countries and 41 languages around the world and also on TNT, Rogers Sportsnet and ESPN RADIO and audio in several languages on NBA.com on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. EST.
