The Grand Prize winner will be selected from two sweepstakes winners, who will each receive a trip for two to NBA All-Star 2003. Additionally, each sweepstakes winner will have one of two teams, one featuring Boston Celtics Paul Pierce and Washington Mystics Stacey Dales-Schuman, and the other Phoenix Suns Shawn Marion and Los Angeles Sparks Nikki Teasley, compete on their behalf in a basketball shooting competition during halftime of the got milk? Rookie Challenge. The NBA and WNBA team that scores the most baskets during the competition will determine the grand prize winner, who will receive $50,000 and the chance to take a bonus shot worth up to an additional $1 million.
The Philips $1 Million Big Shot Grand Prize winner will have the option of shooting from one of three locations on the court for the bonus shot: a free throw - worth $50,000, a 3-point field goal - worth $100,000 or a half court shot - worth $1 million.
As a part of the Philips $1 Million Big Shot sweepstakes, Philips will donate $50,000 to Reading Is Fundamental Inc. (RIF) for their support of the NBA’s Read to Achieve program. The NBA Read to Achieve program is a year-round campaign reaching an estimated 50 million children each year and helping them develop a life-long love for reading and encouraging adults to read regularly with children.
