MVP: Dave Cowens, Boston
The West, forced to play without its two biggest guns, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Rick Barry, scored the fewest number of points since the introduction of the 24-second clock in 1954 as the East prevailed, 104-84, in Chicago.
Boston's Dave Cowens scored 15 points and hauled down 13 rebounds to win the MVP Award. Elvin Hayes of the Bullets also stood out for the East, scoring 10 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
Bright spots for the West were Kansas City-Omaha's Nate Archibald, who scored 17 points, and Portland's Sidney Wicks (Barry's replacement), who tallied 13 points.
