For the second year in a row the West overpowered the East with awesome shooting, this time in a 150-130 victory at St. Louis. Los Angeles's Elgin Baylor led the winners' attack with 32 points, but it was St. Louis's Bob Pettit, with 25 points and 27 rebounds, who took the MVP award-his fourth.
Cincinnati guard Oscar Robertson scored 26 points and Chicago center Walt Bellamy, who went on to win NBA Rookie of the Year honors at season's end, added 23 points. But the game's high scorer was Philadelphia's Wilt Chamberlain, who set an All-Star Game scoring record with 42 points. Chamberlain also grabbed 24 boards.
