L.A. Story: Brand Replaces Shaq on West Roster
NEW YORK, Feb. 7 -- Los Angeles Clippers forward
Elton Brand has been named by NBA Commissioner David Stern to replace injured All-Star
Shaquille O'Neal (arthritis, right big toe) of the Los Angeles Lakers on the Western Conference roster for the 2002 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 10, in Philadelphia.
Brand, in his third NBA season, is making the first NBA All-Star appearance.
West All-Star head coach Don Nelson will determine which player will replace O'Neal in the starting lineup.
The 2002 NBA All-Star Game will be played at First Union Center in Philadelphia. The game will be broadcast in 210 countries in 41 different languages and also on NBC, CTV in Canada, ESPN Radio and audio on NBA.com.
