What is NBA 3-on-3?
NBA 3-on-3 is a mass participation program aimed at promoting basketball amongst casual and competitive basketball fans around the world. The NBA 3-on-3 Thailand 2011 event is open to boys and girls of all skill levels from the ages of 11 - 19, with an open division for men, and based on FIBA 3on3 format and rules. The NBA 3-on-3 Thailand 2011 will provide participants and fans with the total NBA experience including authentic NBA entertainment and unique interactive elements.

How do I register?
Registration for the event will take place at designated outlets throughout Thailand at the following locations:
    Central World

Do I need to fill out any other forms in addition to the registration form?
Yes. In addition to the team registration form, each participant must sign a NBA 3-on-3 waiver form (also known as a Permission and Release form) in order to be eligible to participate in the event. The NBA 3-on-3 waiver form can either be picked up at one of the registration sites or downloaded HERE. All participant waiver forms must be handed in together along with registration forms at the time of registration - no exceptions!

What else do I need to bring with me with I sign up?
For participants 15 years or older, all team members must bring either their Thai national identification card OR passport with them at the time of registration in order to complete the registration process. For participants 14 years or younger, all team members must bring either their passport OR official Thai Household document AND picture ID card (e.g., student ID card) with them at the time of registration in order to complete the registration process.

What will happen if I do not bring my identification with me to the registration site?
In the event you do not have official identification with you at the time of registration, your team will not be eligible to register. All team members MUST have the proper identification with them at the time of registration.

Will I need to bring this identification with me to the tournament?
Yes. Participants will be required to bring the same form of identification used at the time of registration with them to every tournament game as well as tournament check-in. This is to ensure that the participant’s identity is properly authenticated.

What will happen if I do not bring my identification with me to the tournament?
Failure to produce your official piece of identification (e.g., passport, Thai national ID card) which includes both your date of birth and picture ID means forfeit for that particular player for that particular game (in the event the forfeited player is the 3rd player on the team, their team must forfeit as teams will not be allowed to play with less than three (3) players). A player who forfeits a game due for not having the proper identification can play the next game by providing the proper identification used to register for the event.

Do all the team members need to be present in order to sign up?
No. As long as one team member has all of the waiver forms signed by each participant AND every team member’s identification documents, the entire team does not need to be present at the time of team registration

When is the deadline for registration?
September 6th is the deadline for registration. Space is limited, so sign up early!

How much does it cost to play?
The men’s Open Division will have a team registration fee of 1200 baht per team. All other divisions will have a team registration fee of 1000 baht per team.

How can I pay?
Payment will be made at the NBA 3-on-3 registration sites. Registration and payment will not be available online.

Can I pay with credit card or check?
No. The registration sites will only accept cash.

How many players can we have on the roster?
Each team can have a maximum of four (4) players but must carry a minimum of at least three (3) players.

Can I register without a team?
No, you must register as part of a team which includes at least three (3) members.

Who eligible to play?
Anyone over the age of 11 is eligible to play.

How are the tournament brackets set up?
The NBA 3-on-3 Thailand 2011 will feature the following boys and girls divisions:
  • 13 & Under age bracket (boys division)
  • 15 & Under age bracket (boys & girls division)
  • 17 & Under age bracket (boys division)
  • 19 & Under age bracket (boys & girls division)
  • Open Division (men’s division)
  • NBA VIP Division (Invitation only)

What age group am I eligible to sign up for?
The Age cut-off is January 1, 2011 - this means that whatever age you are on January 1st, that is the lowest age group you can play in. All players on a team must conform to this age rule in order to be eligible to participate in a particular age division. If a player does not meet the age requirement, that particular team will be placed into the category of their oldest player. The NBA will enforce the age restriction guidelines at the event. Therefore, it is imperative that each team and each of its members follow the rules to ensure their eligibility.

Where/When do we get our NBA gear and tournament schedule?
Teams MUST pick up their tournament gear and tournament schedules at the tournament site in front of CentralWorld Mall on Friday, September 9 between 4PM – 10PM.

What are the NBA 3-on-3 Thailand 2011 tournament hours of operation?
Friday (September 9th ): 6 PM – 10 PM – Team Check-In
Saturday (September 10th): 9 AM – 10 PM - Opening Ceremonies + Games
Sunday (September 11th): 9 AM – 7 PM - Games


How many games are we guaranteed to play?
Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three (3) scheduled round-robin games, followed by the chance to advance to the playoff round. However, NBA staff reserves the right to reduce this number, or shorten games, in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Do we have to bring our own ball?
No. One (1) NBA official Spalding game ball will be provided on each court for each game.

Do we need to bring a coach to the event?
No. Your team can play with or without a coach.

Will the NBA provide jerseys?
Yes. Every registered player on each team will receive an official NBA 3-on-3 Thailand 2011 reversible jersey. This jersey MUST be worn during each game. Under extenuating circumstances, if jerseys cannot be worn, all team members MUST wear the same color shirt.

What do we get if we win?
Each member of the winning team in all divisions will receive a prize and be featured on the NBA 3-on-3 Thailand 2011 website.

Will there be referees for every game?
Yes, there will be a qualified and reliable referee present to officiate every game. The NBA tournament director will also be on hand to monitor all game play.

What is the weather policy?
In the event of adverse weather conditions and/or unplayable conditions the following may result:
    1. All games will continue as scheduled unless the tournament director notifies teams of any changes via on-site announcements and online updates.
    2. Games may be delayed or the points required to win a game may be reduced.
    3. The tournament schedule may be shifted to an alternate day at the discretion of the tournament director
    4. The tournament playoff format may be changed at the discretion of the tournament director


What is the refund policy?
Once the team has completed registration, full refunds will not be offered. Partial refunds may be allocated if guaranteed games are cancelled due to weather. NBA staff reserve the right to make the final decision regarding refund policies.

Does NBA 3-on-3 have specific rules?
The rules for an NBA 3-on-3 event will be played in accordance with the rules outlined by the FIBA 3on3 Basketball Game. The same rules apply for all age groups. Each player is expected to understand these rules, which can be found on the Rules page of HERE, prior to participation in the tournament. Any questions concerning these rules should be directed to tournament staff.

Are there activities taking place at the event in addition to 3-on-3 basketball?
Yes! There will be many free activities taking place in and around the venue, including meet and greet opportunities with NBA talent including NBA mascot, dance performances by the NBA dance team, live music performances, sponsor booths featuring free prizing and giveaways, and other exciting activities for the whole family. In addition, between 1PM and 2PM each day, there will be a NBA Halftime Show on centre court which will feature a fun-filled hour of contests, special appearances and performances by the NBA talents as well as prizing/giveaways. Will there be anyone at the event site to take care of my first aid needs?
Yes. A first aid tent will be set up at the event to provide participants with basic medical assistance throughout the weekend.
