Classic All-Star Games

Today on Throwback Thursday, we get set for All-Star 2016 in Toronto with a look back at some of the very best All-Star moments.

The first All-Star game took place at Boston Garden in 1951 with Ed Macaueley of the Celtics earning MVP honors. Since then, the best players in the Eastern and Western Conference have met 63 times with the East holding a 37-27 advantage. Last season, the Thunder's Russell Westbrook won MVP with 41 points, just one point shy of tying Wilt Chamberlain for the All-Star game scoring record.

  • 7:30 p.m. ET -- 2011 NBA All-Star Game -- Kobe Bryant leads the West All-Stars with 38 points to win MVP and the game in Los Angeles.
  • 9:30 p.m. ET -- 1992 NBA All-Star Game -- Magic Johnson returns to the floor and wins MVP as the West All-Stars dominate in Orlando.
  • 11:30 p.m. ET - 1986 NBA All-Star Game -- Isiah Thomas tallies 30 points and 10 assists to win MVP and lead the East All-Stars to victory.
  • 1 a.m. ET -- 1988 NBA All-Star Game -- Michael Jordan erupts for 40 points and eight rebounds to win MVP as the East All-Stars win in Chicago.
