Daily Fantasy, Jan. 27: Five players to eye on Wednesday

An eight-game night offers plenty of interesting players to consider

POSTED: Jan 27, 2016 1:46 PM ET

By Jon Hartzell,

Isaiah Thomas looks poised for a big game against the Denver Nuggets tonight.

Every day with FanDuel, you're the GM. Use your NBA knowledge to create the best nine-man team with a salary of $60,000. Once your roster is set, enter a contest, sit back and enjoy the games.

Players To Watch: Jan. 27

Isaiah Thomas, PG ($8,300)

The dynamic point guard has tallied 20-plus points in six straight games with averages of 21.7 points on 16.5 attempts, 6.7 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals for 35.7 FanDuel points in 32.4 minutes over that span. He faces a great matchup tonight against the Denver Nuggets (7:30 ET, NBA League Pass), who have the fourth worst defensive rating in the NBA (106.2) and struggle defending point guards. Don't be surprised if Thomas reaches 40 FanDuel points for a second-straight game tonight.

• Tonight on NBA TV: FanDuel Tip-Off Show (6:30 ET)

DeAndre Jordan, C ($7,800)

Jordan is averaging 11.9 points on 71.4 percent shooting, 13.5 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.0 assists for 33.2 FanDuel points in 33.4 minutes over his last five games after missing the first two games of his NBA career earlier this month. Despite these solid averages, his salary is a little high. But a matchup against the Atlanta Hawks tonight (8 ET, NBA League Pass) makes Jordan worth a look. The Hawks rank last in rebound percentage (47.1), which should give Jordan plenty of opportunities to rack up stats.

LaMarcus Aldridge, PF ($6,600)

Think the Spurs might have something to prove against the Houston Rockets tonight (8 ET, ESPN)? After a horrible game against the Golden State Warriors, Aldridge will look to bounce back against a Rockets team that allows more daily fantasy points to power forwards than any other team in the league. Aldridge has been up-and-down all season with averages of just 15.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29.4 minutes. But he was starting to find his groove before the Golden State game, so look for him to get back into that rhythm tonight against Houston.

Marcus Morris, SF ($5,100)

The fifth-year forward continues to receive a ton of minutes in Detroit. Over his last six games, Morris is averaging 13.7 points on 11.7 attempts, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists for 24.5 FanDuel points in 36.5 minutes. These aren't earth-shattering numbers. But they're solid for $5,100 and especially tonight as Morris and the Pistons matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers (7:30 ET, NBA League Pass), who, while improved, still struggle defending wings. Morris has a high floor and is a good, mid-level option at the small forward spot tonight.

J.R. Smith, SG ($5,000)

The streaky shooter has received 33-plus minutes in each of his last three games with averages of 17.0 points on 14.3 attempts, 5.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals for 28.5 FanDuel points in 35.6 minutes. The Cavaliers have a great matchup at home tonight against the Phoenix Suns (7 ET, NBA League Pass), who have the third worst defensive rating in the NBA and struggle containing guards. This game could turn into a blowout, which would give Smith even more time to shine if LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving get some extra time on the bench in the second half.
