Players To Watch: Jan. 13
The Warriors are always a good team to target. But especially tonight as they matchup against the struggling Denver Nuggets (9 ET, NBA League Pass) with Draymond Green (rest) likely out. This will increase Thompson's usage and allow him to potentially have a giant game against the Nuggets, who allow more daily fantasy points to shooting guards than any other team in the league and enter with the sixth worst defensive rating (105.5). In addition, opponents shoot 38.4 percent from 3-point against Denver, which is tied with the Wizards for the highest percentage allowed. At $7,600, Thompson should be strongly considered for your lineups tonight.
Middleton's hot stretch continued last night against the Bulls as he tallied 16 points, a season-high nine assists, six rebounds and a block for 36.7 FanDuel points in 41 minutes. Over his last eight games, Middleton is averaging 23.8 points on 49.6 shooting (including 47.7 percent from 3-point range), 5.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds for 34.9 FanDuel points in 37.4 minutes. The Bucks visit the Washington Wizards tonight (7 ET, NBA League Pass), who are the second worst team at defending small forwards. If Middleton can keep his assists high, he has the shot at another monster game.
'The Stifle Tower' is back for the Jazz and now is the time to pounce on the big man before his price shoots back up. Over his past two games, Gobert is averaging 9.5 points on 100 percent shooting, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals for 26.75 FanDuel points in 29.1 minutes. The blocks will always be there for Gobert and that keeps his floor high, which makes him a great option for head-to-head leagues. Tonight the Jazz matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers (10 ET, NBA League Pass), who sit two-and-a-half games behind Utah for the eighth playoff spot in the West. Expect a competitive game that results in plenty of block and rebound opportunities for Gobert.
The Pelicans head to Sacramento to face the Kings tonight (10 ET, NBA League Pass), which creates a matchup between the third and fourth worst defensive teams in the league. The Kings also play at the fastest pace in the league (102.18) so there should be plenty of fantasy points for everyone in this game. Holiday is a good, mid-level point guard to target as he continues to receive high usage for New Orleans. Over his last five games, Holiday is averaging 17.8 points on 16.8 attempts, 5.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.0 steals for 33.7 FanDuel points in 31. 4 minutes. He went off for 51.2 FanDuel points against the Clippers on Sunday and it's possible he can reach that lofty mark again tonight. He becomes even more of an intriguing play if Anthony Davis (back) remains sidelined after missing the last two games.
If Draymond Green (rest) does sit out tonight against the Nuggets (9 ET, NBA League Pass) then Speights should get some consideration. His minutes will rise and he always has the ability to produce a huge game when given the opportunity. In his last game with 20-plus minutes, he tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds and two assists for 29.0 FanDuel points against the Lakers. That mark is easily attainable tonight, which makes Speights a great option at just $3,600.
