NEW YORK (AP) — Carmelo Anthony will miss the final two games with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, ending his first playoff-less season and potentially his New York Knicks career.
Anthony had an MRI Tuesday. The Knicks said he would not require surgery at this point and would be evaluated in about a month.
Coach Mike Woodson had already said Anthony might not play against Brooklyn on Tuesday or home against Toronto on Wednesday because the games were meaningless for New York. The Knicks had been eliminated from postseason contention on Saturday night.
Anthony will miss the playoffs for the first time in his 11-year career. He has said he plans to become a free agent in July.
Woodson said Amare Stoudemire would play against the Nets.
