ATLANTA (AP) -- The Atlanta Hawks have waived forward James Johnson.

The 6-foot-9 Johnson appeared in four preseason games for the Hawks, averaging 1.5 points and 12 minutes per outing. He shot just 16.7 percent from the field.

Last season, Johnson played 26 games for Sacramento. He also has played for Chicago and Toronto in his four-year NBA career.

The waiving of Johnson leaves 17 players on Atlanta's training camp roster.
