Lakers sign former Nets, Knicks 3-point marksman Williams

Posted Sep 4, 2013 8:21 AM

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -- Shawne Williams has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, reuniting the journeyman forward with coach Mike D'Antoni.

The Lakers announced the deal Tuesday for Williams, a six-year NBA veteran.

Williams was a first-round pick out of Memphis by the Indiana Pacers in 2006. He also suited up for Dallas, New York and New Jersey before spending last season out of the NBA.

Williams had his best NBA season in 2010-11 with D'Antoni, the former Knicks coach. Williams averaged 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game for New York, starting 11 games and making more than 40 percent of his 3-point shots.
