SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Spurs guard Manu Ginobili is making his first start of the season in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night.
Ginobili replaces forward Tiago Splitter as the Spurs try starting with a smaller lineup against the Miami Heat. The series was tied 2-all heading into San Antonio's final home game.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich made the switch despite Ginobili struggling through the worst playoffs of his career. He is averaging 7.5 points and shooting just 34 percent against Miami.
Popovich acknowledged earlier this week that Ginobili is "obviously not as confident as usual."
The 35-year-old Ginobili's last start came in the 2012 Western Conference Finals.
