Summer League: D-League Select 85, Wizards 78

The NBA D-League Select Team opened the 2012 NBA Summer League with an 85-78 victory over the Washington Wizards in the final game in Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Las Vegas-Nevada.

Andre Emmett led the offensive attack for the NBADL with 17 points while Jeremy Wise chipped in 12. Bradley Beal tallied a game high 20 points for the Wizards while Shelvin Mack added 14. The NBADL led by as many as 21 in the game while the Wizards held a nine-point advantage at the half.

Both teams struggled from the field in the opening quarter, the NBADL team shooting .304 percent (7-23) while the Wizards shot just 5-17 for .294 percent.

The Wizards took a commanding lead in the second quarter outscoring the NBADL Select Team 21-9 taking a nine point lead at the half. Bradley Beal sparked the Wizards offense scoring nine points in the quarter.

The NBADL dominated the third quarter outscoring the Wizards 33-15 taking a nine-point lead heading in the final stanza. The NBADL offensive effort was ignited by Andre Emmett who chipped in 12 points in the quarter.

The NBA D-League Select Team (1-0) will return to action on Monday at 5pm as they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Wizards (1-2) will take a much needed break after playing the first three days of the tournament and will return to action on Tuesday, July 14 at 3 p.m. as they host the Memphis Grizzlies.
