SAN ANTONIO -- Dirk Nowitzki is seeing his first action of the season after coming off the Mavericks bench in the first quarter of tonight's game against the Spurs.

Nowitzki underwent right knee surgery before the start of the season and missed the first 27 games.

It was a surprise move. In fact, some close to the team did not know until they saw Nowitzki in pre-game warmups for the first time this season.
