Commissioner Stern apologizes to fans for Spurs' decision

NEW YORK -- NBA Commissioner David Stern has issued the following statement regarding the San Antonio Spurs decision today to send players home prior to their game tonight in Miami:

"I apologize to all NBA fans. This was an unacceptable decision by the San Antonio Spurs and substantial sanctions will be forthcoming."
