Knicks waive guard Chris Smith

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Knicks waived guard Chris Smith on Friday, cutting their roster to 19 players.

The 6-foot-2 rookie from Louisville didn't appear in any preseason games after having surgery on his left patella tendon. He averaged 9.7 points last season for the Cardinals
