Back from surgery, Celtics' Green eager to excel

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) -- Jeff Green is finally getting the chance to show the Celtics what he can do, and they're impressed.

Green came to Boston in the trade that sent Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma City, a deal that broke up the starting lineup of the 2008 NBA champions. But Green had trouble finding his role in his first half-season and then he missed all of last season after a physical exam revealed an aortic aneurysm.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers says Green has been improving steadily.

He underwent surgery and became a free agent before re-signing this summer.

In four years, Green has averaged 13.9 points and 5.5 rebounds.
