Mavericks sign second-round pick Bernard James

DALLAS (AP) -- The Dallas Mavericks have announced the signing of former Florida State center and Air Force veteran Bernard James.

In a Wednesday statement, the Mavericks said terms of the deal won't be disclosed.

The Cleveland Cavaliers took the 6-10, 240-pound Seminole in the second round of the 2012 NBA draft -- 33rd overall. The Mavs acquired him June 28 with 24th overall pick Jared Cunningham and 34th overall pick Jae Crowder. The Cavs got guard Kelenna Azubuike and 17th overall pick Tyler Zeller.

James served six years in the Air Force, attaining the rank of staff sergeant and serving three tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar. James is a former Staff Sergeant who served six years in the Air Force including three tours to Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar.
