DALLAS (AP) -- Chris Kaman says he has agreed to a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

The 7-foot center, who played in New Orleans last season, announced on his Twitter account Wednesday that he is going to Dallas to play with Dirk Nowitizki, his friend and teammate on the German national team during the 2008 Olympics.
Kaman agreed to a one-year deal, according to a person familiar with the deal who confirmed the player's tweet. That person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no official announcement had been made by the Mavericks.
That person also said Dallas is planning to use the amnesty clause on center Brendan Haywood.
ESPN, citing an anonymous source, first reported the amnesty clause for Haywood, who is set to make $8.3 million next season.
