Sixers select Shengelia, send rights to Nets

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The 76ers have selected forward Tornike Shengelia of Spirou in the Belgium League with the 54th pick in the NBA draft Thursday night.

Shengelia's rights will be sent to the Brooklyn Nets.

Shengelia, 6-foot-10 and 228 pounds, averaged 8.3 points for Spirou last season. He's considered a combination forward who has good moves to the basket and strong passing ability.
