SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson is calling his meeting with NBA Commissioner David Stern and other executives a "productive conversation" about the city's efforts to help finance a new arena.
The meeting in New York on Friday also included AEG President Tim Leiweke. The Los Angeles-based company has expressed interest in operating a Sacramento-owned arena to house the Kings.
Johnson says in a statement that he "made clear Sacramento's seriousness of purpose when it comes to developing a true public-private partnership" for a new arena. Stern has said the Kings will again explore relocation if there's no arena plan by March 1.
The Sacramento City Council has approved several preliminary measures to finance a new arena. Details of the final plan - and a vote - are not expected until at least February.

|Remembering Bob Wolff|
The NBA Family mourns the loss of legendary sports broadcaster Bob Wolff. Wolff called the Knicks' two title runs (1970, 1973) as well as Don Larsen's perfect game for the Yankees in the 1956 World Series and the Giants' overtime loss in the 1958 NFL championship game. In 2012, Wolff was cited by the Guinness World Records as having the longest career of any sports broadcaster (nearly 80 years). Wolff was inducted into the broadcasting wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995 and in 2008, recognized by the Basketball Hall of Fame with the Curt Gowdy media award.
