Knicks sign Jordan, lose out on Crawford, Williams

Posted Dec 15 2011 2:39PM

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Knicks have signed center Jerome Jordan, the second 7-footer they added this offseason.

However, they lost out on two other targets, leaving their bench light on scoring. Jamal Crawford passed on a return to New York, and Shawne Williams, a Knick last season, planned to sign with the Nets later Thursday, according to his agent.

The Knicks had only the new $2.5 million, two-year exception left and were outbid for both players.

Jordan was a second-round pick of Milwaukee in 2010, whose rights the Knicks acquired for cash. He then spent parts of the past two seasons playing in Serbia before a buyout of his contract was arranged. He took part in his first practice Thursday and hopes for minutes behind newcomer Tyson Chandler.
