Aldridge: Bryant not interested in Turkish team

A source involved in the discussions between Kobe Bryant and the Turkish team Besitkas indicated Sunday that Bryant has not spoken with the club in more than two weeks and put the current odds of Bryant playing there at "zero percent."

This comes despite rampant speculation that a deal was close.

However, the source said Bryant would consider overseas offers if the lockout, which started July 1, continues into the fall.

Ten days ago, Besitkas coach Ergin Ataman said that Bryant's representatives had contacted the team and that Bryant was waiting for an offer from the Turkish club. The club said it would need a sponsor to be able to pay for the superstar's contract.

The Turkish League season starts in October.

Besiktas signed Allen Iverson, the NBA's MVP in 2001, last year but his time in Turkey was cut short due to injury.
