Wall, Griffin named April T-Mobile Rookies of the Month

NEW YORK -- The Washington Wizards' John Wall and the Los Angels Clippers' Blake Griffin today were named the Eastern and Western Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played through April.

Wall led all Eastern Conference rookies in scoring (19.4 ppg) and assists (6.0 apg). He also led all NBA players in steals during the month (3.0 spg).

Griffin led all rookies in scoring (23.3 ppg), rebounding (11.9 rpg), and was third in assists (5.0 apg). He is the only player in the league averaging at least 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists.

Here is a recap of the month for both Wall and Griffin:

John Wall, Washington Wizards
April 3 @ Charlotte: Tallied 18 points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals in a 97-91 win over the Bobcats.

April 5 vs. Detroit: Scored 26 points, dished out 12 assists, pulled down six rebounds and had four steals in a 107-105 victory over the Pistons.

April 9 vs. Atlanta: Scored 19 points to go with seven assists and five rebounds in a 115-83 win over the Hawks.

April 11 vs. Boston: Scored 24 points to go with nine rebounds and three assists in a 95-94 victory over the Celtics.

Blake Griffin, LA Clippers
April 1 @ Phoenix: Had 20 points, 13 rebounds and four assists in a 111-98 loss to the Suns.

April 2 vs. Oklahoma City: Tallied 26 points, 14 rebounds and three assists in a 98-92 win over the Thunder.

April 6 @ Oklahoma City: Posted 35 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals in a 112-108 loss to the Thunder.

April 13 vs. Memphis: Tallied a triple double with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 110-103 win over the Grizzles.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference T-Mobile Rookies of the Month were New York's Landry Fields, Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins and Toronto's Ed Davis.
