Heat's Wade, Spurs' Parker named Players of the Week

NEW YORK -- The Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade and San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, March 7, through Sunday, March 13.

Wade led Miami to a 2-1 week, averaging 28.7 points on .508 shooting (30-for-59) to go along with 6.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds. On March 12 vs. Memphis, Wade became the first guard since Michael Jordan in 1988 to have at least 28 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five blocks in a game. This is the third time in the 2010-11 season that Wade has garnered Player of the Week honors.

Parker led the Spurs to a 3-0 week, clinching their 14th consecutive playoff berth. He led the Spurs in scoring for the week averaging 23.7 points, scoring 21 or more in all three games. He has notched 24 games this season of scoring 20 or more points. On March 9 vs. Detroit, Parker scored 23 points to go along with seven assists and four blocks to secure a 111-104 victory. This is Parker's second Player of the Week award of the season.

March 8 vs. Portland: Scored 38 points and grabbed six rebounds in Video a 105-96 loss to the Trail Blazers

March 10 vs. L.A. Lakers: Recorded 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals in Video a 94-88 win over the Lakers.

March 12 vs. Memphis: Tallied 28 points, nine assists, five rebounds, five blocks and three steals in Video a 118-85 victory over the Grizzlies.

Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs

March 9 vs. Detroit: Scored 23 points to go along with seven assists and four steals in Video a 111-104 win over the Pistons.

March 11 vs. Sacramento: Tallied 27 points and six assists in Video a 108-103 win over the Kings.

March 12 @ Houston: Posted 21 points to go along with six assists and three rebounds in Video a 115-107 victory over the Rockets.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week: Boston's Nenad Krstic, Chicago's Derrick Rose, Golden State's Monta Ellis, New Jersey's Brook Lopez and Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
