NEW YORK -- The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced that the official NBA Twitter feed has surpassed two million fans, an unprecedented number for a sports league on the social networking site. Overall, the official NBA feed, all 30 NBA team feeds, and more than 165 NBA player feeds have accumulated more than 23 million combined followers across Twitter.

The NBA will celebrate the two-million-fan milestone by unveiling a fan takeover of the league's Twitter feed. Fans will be able to share videos, photos, and messages about their love for the game of basketball. Beginning today, the content NBA fans provide will be posted on the official NBA Twitter page throughout the weeklong celebration.

Additionally, the league will provide all NBA Twitter fans with exclusive discount offers for NBAStore.com, NBA League Pass Broadband, and NBA marketing-partner products from T-Mobile, EA Sports and Right Guard. NBA teams, players, and celebrities will provide special commentary and video, while players will host "Twitterviews" -- live chats on Twitter -- throughout the week.

"Surpassing the two-million mark on Twitter is a testament to our tremendous fans around the globe, who are passionate about the league and their favorite teams and players," said Melissa Rosenthal-Brenner, NBA Vice President of Marketing. "Our fans have embraced the NBA on social media and we wanted to show our appreciation by celebrating them throughout the week."
