Hawks add Gattison to Drew's coaching staff

Posted Jul 28 2010 6:45PM

ATLANTA (AP) -- Hawks coach Larry Drew is adding former New Orleans Hornets assistant Kenny Gattison to his new staff as an assistant coach.

Drew says Gattison adds knowledge and experience to the Hawks. Gattison was with the Hornets from 2003-09.

Gattison says the Hawks are "young and talented" as they come off a 53-win season.

Gattison also was an assistant with the New Jersey Nets from 1996-98. He also worked as an assistant at Old Dominion University, his alma mater. He is a native of Wilmington, N.C.

As a player, Gattison spent nine seasons with the Suns, Hornets and Grizzlies.
