Wizards' Blatche out three months with broken foot

Posted Jun 25 2010 11:35PM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Washington Wizards forward Andray Blatche is recovering from surgery to repair a broken bone in his foot.

The Wizards said Blatche had the operation Friday night to repair a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. He is expected to be sidelined for three months, which means he could return just in time for training camp.

Blatche carried the load for the Wizards at the end of last season after Gilbert Arenas was suspended and Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison were traded. Blatche finished the season averaging 14.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists -- all career-highs.

His injury was a sour note on an otherwise celebratory day for the Wizards, who gave No. 1 overall draft pick John Wall a lavish welcome at the Verizon Center.
