The Orlando Magic's Stan Van Gundy and the Dallas Mavericks' Rick Carlisle have been named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for games played in April.

Orlando secured the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference and finished the season with the NBA's second-best overall record -- the Magic's 59 wins trailed only the Cavaliers' 61.

Carlisle guided Dallas to a share of the Western Conference's best record in April at 5-2 (.714). The Mavericks scored 110 or more points and shot over .500 from the field in four of seven games. Dallas, the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference, enters the postseason having won five straight games and finished the regular season with 55 wins -- fourth most in franchise history.

Other nominees for the Coach of the Month were Miami's Erik Spoelstra, Milwaukee's Scott Skiles, Phoenix's Alvin Gentry and San Antonio's Gregg Popovich.
