Wade, Ginobili garner Player of the Week honors

NEW YORK -- The Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade and the San Antonio Spurs' Manu Ginobili today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played March 22-28.

Wade ranked third in the Eastern Conference in scoring (25.3 ppg), fourth in steals (2.8 spg) and fifth in assists (8.8 apg), while leading the Heat to a 4-0 record. He also was among the top 10 league leaders in field goal percentage (sixth, .654) and blocks (ninth, 1.8 bpg), and scored 25 or more points in three of his four games. Against the Toronto Raptors, he recorded game highs in points (32), steals (five) and blocks (three) to go along with seven rebounds and six assists in the Heat win.

Ginobili averaged 25.8 points, fourth among Western Conference league leaders, 5.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds to hoist the Spurs to a 3-1 record. He scored 20 or more points in each game, including 30 points in a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, and handed out at least five assists in three games. In addition to scoring 21 points, Ginobili posted five rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block in a win at Oklahoma City.

Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat

March 22 at New Jersey: Recorded a double-double with 27 points and 12 assists in a 99-89 win.

March 25 at Chicago: Notched his second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 10 assists in a 103-74 win.

Jan. 23 vs. Oklahoma City: Recorded 32 points, seven rebounds, six assists, five steals and three blocks in a 97-94 win.

Manu Ginobili, San Antonio Spurs

March 22 at Oklahoma City: Posted 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 99-96 Spurs win.

March 26 vs. Cleveland: Shot 10-19 from the field, including 3-5 from three, for 30 points in a 102-97 win.

March 28 at Boston: Scored 28 points, handed out seven assists and corralled three rebounds in a 94-73 win.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Charlotte's Gerald Wallace, Cleveland's LeBron James, Indiana's Danny Granger, Orlando's Dwight Howard and Phoenix's Amar'e Stoudemire.
