NEW YORK, Jan. 11, 2010 -- The Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James and the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Kaman today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Jan. 4 through Jan. 10.


James topped the NBA in scoring (33.0 ppg), ranked third in the Eastern Conference in assists (7.7 apg) and added 7.7 rebounds, while leading the Cavaliers to a 2-1 record. On Jan. 10, he scored 41 points and collected 10 rebounds for his fifth game of at least 40 points and 12th double-double of the season. The award is James' third of the season (Nov. 23 and Dec. 28).
Kaman led the Clippers to a 3-0 week by averaging a double-double (21.0 ppg and 12.0 rpg). He posted consecutive double-doubles in wins over the Los Angeles Lakers (21 points, 14 rebounds) and Miami Heat (22 points, 14 rebounds). Kaman scored 20 or more points in each game to earn his second Western Conference Player of the Week award in 2009-10 (Nov. 9).

Jan. 6 vs. Washington: Totaled 23 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and two blocks in a 121-98 a win over the Wizards.
Jan. 8, @ Denver: Scored 35 points, handed out seven assists and collected six rebounds in a 99-97 loss to the Nuggets.
Jan. 10 @ Portland: Earned his 12th double-double of the season with 41 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in a 106-94 win over the Trail Blazers.
Chris Kaman, Los Angeles Clippers
Jan. 4 vs Portland: Netted 20 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists in a 105-95 win over the Trail Blazers.
Jan. 6 vs Los Angeles: Tallied 21 points and 14 rebounds in addition to two assists and two steals in a 102-91 win over the Lakers.
Jan. 10 vs. Miami: Posted his second double-double of the week with 22 points and 14 rebounds in a 94-84 win over the Heat.
Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Boston's Rajon Rondo, Charlotte's Stephen Jackson, New Orleans' Chris Paul and David West, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Phoenix's Steve Nash, Toronto's Chris Bosh and Washington's Antawn Jamison.
