Summary
In retrospect, Sacramento probably overachieved last season by going 38-44. With Martin's injury, coupled with Ron Artest's departure, the Kings really didn't have much of a chance.
Martin will win some games single-handedly, but the key for the Kings is how quickly Thompson (10.1 pts, 6.7 reb), Spencer Hawes (10.2 pts, 6.3 reb) and Donte Greene (4.4 pts) can become reliable contributors. It's safe to say that Qunicy Douby (4.0 pts, 30.9 fg pct) is a bust. Don't expect the Kings to pick up the fourth-year option on him. And Natt is just a stopgap solution.
Whoever is brought in as head coach this offseason will be expected to build the offense around Martin, Sacramento's only marketable star. This team should be thinking point guard for the June Draft. -- Dave McMenamin
